Kia India has officially unveiled its second mass-market electric vehicle, the Syros EV, in a significant move for the Indian EV market. The new electric SUV boasts an impressive ARAI-certified range of up to 526 km, coupled with an ownership package designed to alleviate common EV adoption concerns. Consumers can choose between two battery options: a 51.4 kWh unit offering 526 km range or a 42 kWh option with a 443 km range. Powering the Syros EV is a 171 PS electric motor, enabling acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds.
The Syros EV supports 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 10-80% charge in approximately 39 minutes. Key features aimed at enhancing the ownership experience include a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty, an Assured Buyback programme, and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing. These initiatives address crucial aspects like battery longevity, resale value, and upfront costs, aiming to instill confidence in prospective EV buyers. The vehicle is integrated into Kia's K-Charge ecosystem, providing access to over 20,300 charging points and support from 129+ Kia dealerships equipped with DC fast chargers.
Built on Kia's reinforced K1 platform, the Syros EV features distinct EV-specific styling, a 30-inch Trinity Panoramic Display, and connected car technology with over 95 Kia Connect features. The interior also includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harman Kardon audio system. For safety, it is equipped with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems) offering 16 autonomous driving assistance functions, six airbags, Electronic Stability Control, and a 360-degree camera.
