Tata Motors has officially inaugurated its new ₹9,000-crore Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) car manufacturing plant in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, presided over the inauguration on February 9, 2026, marking a significant expansion of world-class automotive manufacturing in the state.
The facility, which rolled out its first Range Rover Evoque, is the first of its kind in India to manufacture JLR's luxury models. Production will scale up in phases, aiming for an annual capacity of 250,000 vehicles over the next five to seven years, catering to both Indian and international markets. This initiative is expected to create over 5,000 direct and indirect jobs.
