Qualcomm Technologies and Tata Electronics have announced a strategic collaboration to manufacture Qualcomm Automotive Modules in India. This partnership signifies a major boost for India's "Make in India" initiative, aiming to localise the production of critical automotive technologies. The modules will support advanced features such as digital cockpits, infotainment systems, connectivity solutions, and intelligent vehicle systems for both Indian and global automakers.
Under this agreement, Tata Electronics will utilize its upcoming high-volume semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) facility in Jagiroad, Assam, as a manufacturing hub for Qualcomm's automotive platforms, including the Snapdragon Digital Chassis. This move is expected to not only strengthen India's role in the global semiconductor and automotive ecosystems but also diversify supply chains and accelerate the industry's transition towards software-defined vehicles by simplifying system design and development.
