This new facility significantly boosts India's domestic EV battery production capabilities, adding over 48,000 battery systems annually and more than 3 GWh of energy storage capacity at full operational output.
The expansion comes at a pivotal time for the Indian EV market, which witnessed a substantial 43% year-over-year sales increase in the first half of 2026, totaling over 1.54 million units. This surge has pushed overall EV penetration beyond 11%. The Halol plant was rapidly constructed, moving from an empty structure to full operation in under eight months, demonstrating a commitment to meeting the escalating demand for EV components across the country.
With this latest addition, Octillion's combined annual production capacity across its three Indian plants is projected to exceed 150,000 battery systems and approximately 9 GWh. This strategic investment aligns with India's ambitious national targets, which aim for EVs to comprise 30% of private car sales, 70% of commercial vehicle sales, 40% of bus sales, and 80% of two- and three-wheeler sales by the end of the decade.
