JSW MG Motor India is set to revolutionize its electric vehicle (EV) offerings by transitioning its popular Astor and ZS EV models to the advanced modular SIGMA (SAIC Intelligent Global Modular Architecture) platform. This strategic shift is anticipated to take place in 2027, following the introduction of a new plug-in hybrid SUV, the Starlight 560, in the second half of 2026.
The move underscores JSW MG Motor India's ambition to have New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including EVs and plug-in hybrids, account for 75% of its sales. The new SIGMA platform is expected to bring substantial improvements in efficiency, performance, and design to the next-generation Astor and ZS EV models. The Starlight 560 PHEV, based on China's Wuling Starlight 560, will debut with a 1.5L petrol engine combined with a 20.5kWh battery, offering a total range of 1,100km.
