Maruti Suzuki is embarking on its most ambitious product offensive yet, officially confirming the launch of eight new SUVs in India by FY 2030-31. This major expansion comes with an investment of ₹70,000 crore over the next 5–6 years, with the primary objective of regaining a 50% passenger vehicle market share and becoming India’s leading EV manufacturer. The announcement was made by Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.
The SUV rollout is expected to commence by mid-2026, starting with a facelifted Fronx featuring a strong-hybrid powertrain. By late 2026, Maruti is also planning to launch a full-sized 7-seater SUV, designed to compete with popular models like the Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra XUV700. Additionally, a small, affordable electric SUV is reportedly under development, which could bolster Maruti Suzuki's position in the entry-level EV segment. This aligns with the much-anticipated e-Vitara, scheduled for a December 2025 launch as the brand’s first locally manufactured Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).
Beyond domestic market goals, Maruti Suzuki is also strengthening its role as a global export hub, with projected exports exceeding 4 lakh units this year. The company is also committed to Suzuki’s carbon neutrality vision, with nine biogas plants slated for establishment in Gujarat by 2027 through partnerships with Banas, Amul, and NDDB. This initiative will complement Maruti Suzuki's diverse powertrain portfolio, which already includes petrol, CNG, mild-hybrid, and strong-hybrid models.
