TL;DR

Mangaluru engineers have patented a fast-charging EV system with internal recharging and split battery packs, aiming to resolve range anxiety and charging infrastructure challenges.

Two electrical engineers from Mangaluru, Kishore Bhat M and Shashikumar R, have developed and patented an innovative fast-charging system for electric vehicles. This new technology addresses critical challenges such as extended charging times, limited range, and heavy reliance on external charging infrastructure, which are significant hurdles in widespread EV adoption.

The patented system, titled 'Electrically operated device with an internal battery refilling and split fast-charging system,' incorporates an internal generation unit powered by biofuels or other renewable sources. This unit facilitates the recharging of a discharged battery pack within the vehicle, eliminating the need for external charging stations. The system operates with dual or multiple battery packs, automatically switching between them to ensure continuous operation while one pack recharges.

A key highlight of this innovation is its split fast-charging mechanism, where each battery pack is divided into smaller modules for balanced and rapid charging. This design not only significantly reduces charging time but also minimizes heat generation, enhances safety, and extends battery life. Developers believe this technology has the potential to alleviate range anxiety, decrease carbon emissions, and make EVs more dependable and accessible across various applications, including drones and industrial tools.
