Kia has launched its Sorento SUV in India, marking its debut as the brand's new flagship internal combustion engine (ICE) model in the country. The three-row SUV, available in six major trims, is offered with two distinct powertrain options: a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The hybrid variant delivers 238hp and 380Nm of torque, while the diesel engine produces 202hp and 441Nm, catering to varying customer preferences for performance and fuel efficiency.
The Sorento showcases Kia's latest design philosophy, featuring the signature 'Tiger Nose' grille flanked by prominent vertical LED headlights and Y-shaped LED daytime running lights. The exterior styling is further enhanced by vertical aero vents, squarish taillights with an inverted L-shaped LED signature, and a large roof spoiler. Inside, the SUV boasts a connected display system that integrates the infotainment and driver instrument clusters, along with expected features such as ADAS Suite, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.
Manufactured at Kia's Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, the Sorento's launch price starts at Rs 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Higher-spec HTX and HTX(A) trims also offer all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities. The Sorento is expected to compete with other premium SUVs in the segment, including the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner.
