TL;DR
Hero, Honda, and Bajaj are set to launch new electric motorcycles in India, aiming to expand the nascent electric bike segment amidst growing EV adoption.
Several prominent Indian two-wheeler manufacturers, including Hero MotoCorp, Honda, and Bajaj Auto, are poised to enter or expand their presence in the electric motorcycle segment. This strategic shift comes as the electric two-wheeler market in India experiences rapid growth, although electric motorcycles currently constitute a small fraction of overall sales compared to e-scooters.
Hero MotoCorp has recently filed design patents for its upcoming Vida Ubex and Vida VxZ electric motorcycles, with the VxZ reportedly co-developed with US-based Zero Motorcycles. Bajaj is also developing an all-new commuter electric motorcycle platform, potentially leveraging components from its Chetak EV. These upcoming models are anticipated to inject much-needed mainstream options into India's nascent electric bike market.
