India Halves EV Charger Benchmark Prices to Accelerate Clean Mobility
0 মন্তব্য

TL;DR

India has halved EV charger benchmark prices to boost clean mobility infrastructure and accelerate the installation of charging stations nationwide.

In a significant push to expand its clean mobility infrastructure, India has reduced the benchmark prices for electric vehicle (EV) chargers by over 50%. This policy revision is aimed at lowering subsidy outlays and facilitating a more rapid installation of charging stations nationwide. The move aligns with the government's PM E-Drive policy, which seeks to boost EV adoption through targeted incentives and infrastructure development.

Under the updated policy, the benchmark price for a 60-kilowatt (kW) charger has been slashed from ₹7.28 lakh for a 50 kW unit to ₹3.4 lakh. Similarly, the benchmark for a 120 kW charger is now set at ₹5 lakh, nearly half the cost of a 100 kW charger under the previous framework. With nearly ₹2,000 crore allocated under the PM E-Drive programme to support EV charging infrastructure, these revisions are expected to ease the fiscal burden of subsidies and accelerate the deployment of charging points across the country.
