Haryana's Auto Component Sector Gears Up for Electric Vehicle Boom

TL;DR

Haryana's auto component industry is repositioning itself to meet the growing demands of India's electric vehicle market, with EV penetration expected to reach 30% by 2030, creating significant opportunities for domestic manufacturers.

Auto component manufacturers in Haryana are actively recalibrating their business strategies to align with India's burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market. This strategic shift was a central theme at the recent ASSOCHAM EV Ancillaries and Auto Components Conclave 2026 held in Gurugram. Government officials and industry experts underscored the imperative for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to pivot their operations to cater to the evolving EV ecosystem, anticipating a significant expansion of India's EV market in the coming years.

Sanjeev Chawla, Additional Development Commissioner, MSME DFO, Karnal, highlighted that India's EV penetration, currently at approximately 8.5% (around 50 lakh vehicles), is projected to surge to 30% by 2030. This substantial growth presents lucrative opportunities for domestic component manufacturers across various EV segments, including battery management systems, suspension systems, wiring harnesses, switches, and brushless DC (BLDC) motors. Haryana, already a major hub producing nearly 50% of India's cars and 60% of its motorcycles, is uniquely positioned to lead this EV transition, backed by the 'Invest in Haryana 2026' policy which identifies electric mobility as a priority sector.
