Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, in the Indian market on December 2, 2025. This marks a significant stride for India's largest automaker into the electric mobility sector. The e-Vitara, which was initially showcased at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025, is designed as a global electric SUV with plans for exports to over 100 countries, including Europe and Japan. Maruti Suzuki has already commenced exports of the e-Vitara, with shipments to 12 European countries in August 2025.
The e-Vitara is a compact SUV boasting contemporary styling and practical dimensions. It features a 3-in-1 electric drive system that integrates the motor, inverter, and transmission, contributing to reduced weight and enhanced efficiency. Inside, the vehicle offers a premium digital cockpit with a 10.25-inch driver display and a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. Buyers will have a choice of two battery options: a 49kWh unit with a 144hp front motor, and a larger 61kWh unit delivering 174hp. An all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant with the larger battery will also be available, offering a combined output of 184hp and 300Nm. The top-spec model is anticipated to provide a range exceeding 500km on a single charge.
To support the new EV, Maruti Suzuki is also developing a robust ownership ecosystem, including providing a smart home charger with professional installation for every e-Vitara buyer. The company aims to establish public fast-charging stations across the top 100 Indian cities within the next two to three years, ensuring charging points every 5–10 kilometers. Furthermore, 1,500 EV-ready workshops will be set up in over 1,000 cities to offer comprehensive after-sales and service support nationwide.
