Indian Passenger Vehicle Exports Witness 18% Growth in First Half of FY26

TL;DR

India's passenger vehicle exports surged by 18% in H1 FY26, reaching 4.45 lakh units, driven by strong global demand, with Maruti Suzuki leading the charge.

Passenger vehicle exports from India saw a robust 18% year-on-year increase during the April-September period of the current fiscal year (FY26). According to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), total shipments reached 4,45,884 units, up from 3,76,679 units in the corresponding period last year. This significant growth is attributed to stable global demand, particularly strong performance in the Middle East and Latin America.

Maruti Suzuki India led the export charts, shipping over 2 lakh units, marking a 40% increase compared to the previous year. Other notable contributors included Hyundai Motor India, Nissan Motor India, Volkswagen India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Kia India, and Honda Cars India. The diversification of export markets, with positive growth registered in 24 countries, underscores India's strengthening position as a global hub for small and mid-size passenger vehicle exports, despite a decline in shipments to the US due to tariffs.
