TL;DR

Several automakers, including Maruti Suzuki, VinFast, MG, and Tata, are set to launch new 7-seater electric MPVs and SUVs in India by mid-2027, expanding options for larger EV families and commercial use.

India's electric vehicle (EV) market is set to witness a significant expansion in the 7-seater segment with several new electric MPV and SUV models expected from major automakers by mid-2027. This includes models like the Maruti Suzuki YMC, VinFast Limo Green, MG 520, and the Tata Safari.ev, reflecting a growing acceptance of large three-row EVs among Indian consumers. Maruti Suzuki has commenced testing its three-row electric MPV, codenamed 'YMC', built on the e-Vitara platform. This model is expected to offer seating for six or seven people and boast a range of around 525 kilometers on a single charge. VinFast is also planning to introduce the Limo Green, a 7-seat MPV derived from the recently launched VF MPV 7, targeting ride-hailing and commercial customers. JSW MG Motor is preparing to launch the MG 520, a 7-seat SUV which will be a rebadged version of the Wuling Starlight 560, available in both plug-in hybrid and pure electric variants with the latter offering a range up to 500 kilometers. Additionally, the Tata Safari.ev, an all-electric variant of the popular Safari, is expected in late October, offering 6- and 7-seat configurations and an anticipated range of up to 600 kilometers.
