Suzuki Achieves Landmark 30 Million Cumulative Vehicle Sales in India

TL;DR

Suzuki's Indian subsidiary, Maruti Suzuki, achieved 30 million cumulative domestic vehicle sales, highlighting its long-standing market dominance and growing EV export role.

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has reached a monumental milestone, surpassing 30 million cumulative domestic vehicle sales in India on November 2, 2025. This achievement marks India as the second country, after Japan, to achieve such a high volume of cumulative Suzuki automobile sales.

Suzuki's journey in India began with a joint venture agreement with the Indian Government and Maruti Udyog in 1982, leading to the rollout of its first model, the Maruti 800, in December 1983. Over the decades, the company has consistently provided cars like the Alto, WagonR, and Swift, integral to daily transportation in India. More recently, it has expanded its SUV lineup with popular models such as the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Fronx, and the Victoris, launched in September 2025.

Maruti Suzuki currently offers 19 models in India, including various powertrain options like hybrid and CNG, which contribute to lower CO2 emissions. Furthermore, in November 2024, Suzuki announced India as the manufacturing hub for its first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), the e-Vitara. The e-Vitara, produced at Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat plant, began exports to over 100 countries and regions, with its first consignment sent to Europe in August 2025.
