Skoda India to Introduce Global EV Models in Limited Batches Next Year

TL;DR

Skoda Auto India plans to launch global EV models in limited batches next year to establish its presence and meet regulatory requirements, foregoing a hybrid strategy for now.

Skoda Auto India is set to mark its presence in the country's burgeoning electric vehicle market by introducing EVs from its global portfolio in limited volumes next year. This strategy aims to establish Skoda's EV credentials and meet future regulatory requirements, as EV adoption gains momentum in India.

According to Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, while a specific locally manufactured EV for India has not yet been announced, the company plans to bring in models like the Epiq, Peaq, and Elroq. These will initially be available in limited batches due to the current duty structure, which makes it challenging to price them competitively for high volumes, but it will serve to showcase Skoda's electric offerings.
