New Electric Cars Set to Electrify Indian Market in Early 2026

TL;DR

India's automotive market is gearing up for new electric vehicle launches in early 2026, including the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and Tata Sierra EV, both promising competitive range and features.

The Indian automotive industry is poised for a significant push into electric mobility with several highly anticipated EV launches scheduled for early 2026. Maruti Suzuki is expected to introduce its inaugural electric vehicle, the e-Vitara SUV, this month. The e-Vitara is projected to offer two battery options (48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh) and a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge, featuring advanced functionalities like a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS.

Tata Motors is also set to launch the Sierra EV, a revival of an iconic brand, early this year. Built on the new Acti.ev+ platform, the Sierra EV is anticipated to deliver a 500 km range and an all-wheel-drive option. Additionally, a Toyota electric SUV, which will be a sibling to the Maruti e-Vitara, is expected to be unveiled in January, sharing similar battery configurations and long-range capabilities.
