Maruti Suzuki's Upcoming Affordable Electric Hatchback Spotted Testing

TL;DR

Maruti Suzuki's affordable electric hatchback, based on the Vision e-Sky concept and rivaling the Tata Tiago.EV, has been spotted in its testing phase, hinting at an imminent launch.

Maruti Suzuki's highly anticipated affordable electric hatchback, believed to be the production version of the Vision e-Sky concept, has been spotted undergoing testing. This new electric vehicle (EV) is expected to be a direct rival to the Tata Tiago.EV in the Indian market, marking Maruti Suzuki's strong foray into the mass-market electric car segment.

While the latest spy pictures were not taken in India, they provide a clear glimpse of the car's overall stance and silhouette, which closely resembles the Vision e-Sky concept. The test mules exhibit partial camouflage, revealing a blue body color with white roofs, a color scheme previously seen on the concept. Notable differences from the concept include more practical headlamp units, regular steel wheels (likely to change in later stages), conventional side-view mirrors, and standard door handles.

Underpinning this EV will be Maruti Suzuki's new-age K-EV platform, a dedicated electric vehicle architecture designed to maximize cabin space. The car is projected to be approximately 3.39 meters long and is expected to offer a comprehensive array of features, including a 360-degree camera, ADAS suite, dual digital displays, ambient lighting, and selectable drive modes. Suzuki plans a global launch in FY 2026-27, with an Indian introduction shortly thereafter.
