TL;DR

Maruti Suzuki has launched its first electric SUV, the eVitara, in India with disruptive pricing and a Battery-as-a-Service model to accelerate EV adoption, boasting a 5-star safety rating and up to 543 km range.

Maruti Suzuki India has officially entered the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the launch of its first battery electric model, the eVitara. Positioned as a disruptor in India's midsize electric SUV category, the eVitara boasts an introductory base price of ₹10.99 lakh under a unique Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, featuring a running battery EMI of ₹3.99 per kilometre. This aggressive pricing strategy aims to make EV ownership more accessible, challenging competitors like the MG ZS EV.

The eVitara is offered with 61 kWh and 49 kWh battery pack options, providing a commendable driving range of up to 543 kilometres. Maruti Suzuki has also laid significant groundwork for its EV ecosystem, establishing tie-ups with 13 charging-network operators, over 2,000 charging points across its dealer network, and an ambitious plan to facilitate over 100,000 public chargers by 2030. The vehicle has also secured a five-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection, with seven airbags as standard, emphasizing safety alongside affordability.
