TL;DR

Maruti Suzuki launched its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara, in India, featuring a 5-star safety rating, up to 543 km range, and an expansive charging and service network.

Maruti Suzuki officially launched its first all-electric SUV, the e-Vitara, on December 2, 2025, marking a significant entry into India's rapidly expanding electric vehicle market. The new EV will be available with two LFP battery pack options, 49 kWh and 61 kWh, and is projected to deliver a certified range of up to 543 km. The e-Vitara has also achieved a 5-star safety rating under the government's Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP).

Beyond the vehicle itself, Maruti Suzuki is committed to building a comprehensive EV ecosystem to facilitate widespread adoption. The company plans to establish over 2,000 exclusive charging points across more than 1,100 cities nationwide by 2030, investing ₹250 crore in this infrastructure. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki aims to have 1,500 EV-ready workshops across 1,000+ cities with a 1.5 lakh trained workforce to provide robust after-sales and service support. Bookings for the e-Vitara are expected to open soon, with sales scheduled to commence in January 2026.
