Maruti Suzuki Confirms December Launch for its First Electric SUV, the e-Vitara

TL;DR

Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric SUV, the e-Vitara, in India on December 2, 2025, offering two battery options and a claimed 500 km range.

Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that its highly anticipated first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara SUV, will be launched in India on December 2, 2025. This announcement follows a series of delays and marks a significant step for the Indian carmaker into the burgeoning electric mobility segment.

Production of the e-Vitara has already commenced at the brand's Gujarat facility, with the initial batch of 6,000 units already exported to Europe and the UK. The electric SUV will be available in 10 color options and three variants, offering consumers diverse choices.

The Maruti e-Vitara will be powered by 48.8 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs, each paired with a single electric motor. Maruti Suzuki claims an impressive range of 500 km on a full charge for the larger battery pack, and it can be fast-charged from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 50 minutes using a DC charger. This launch is expected to intensify competition in India's electric SUV market.
