KTM 490 Duke Prototype Spotted During Road Testing in India, Launch Expected by Late 2027

TL;DR

The KTM 490 Duke has been spied testing in India, revealing an all-new engine and larger proportions, with a launch anticipated by late 2027 at an estimated price of ₹4.5 lakh.

A prototype of the highly anticipated KTM 490 Duke has been spotted undergoing road tests, indicating that a launch in India could be expected by late 2027. The sightings provide an early glimpse into the motorcycle's design and mechanical components, suggesting it is still in the developmental phase.

The spy shots reveal that the 490 Duke will feature an all-new engine, expected to produce around 60-65 PS, positioning it as a more powerful sibling to the 390 Duke. The test mule, observed with most body panels missing, appears to have larger proportions than the 390 Duke but incorporates a similar headlight setup and a new taillight design with integrated turn indicators.

Hardware visible on the prototype includes WP Apex front forks and braking components, along with a monoshock rear suspension and a side-swept exhaust. Pricing for the KTM 490 Duke is anticipated to be around ₹4.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it is expected to compete with models such as the Aprilia Tuono 457 in the Indian market.
