TL;DR
JBM Group and Sodecia are investing INR 150 crore to build a hot stamping plant in Pune for lightweight, high-strength auto components for ICE and EVs.
JBM Group has announced a strategic partnership with Portugal-based Sodecia Automotive International SA to set up a new hot stamping automotive systems facility in Pune, India. This joint venture entails an investment of INR 150 crore and is projected to commence operations by the second quarter of fiscal year 2027.
The facility will specialize in manufacturing safety-critical, lightweight, and high-strength components essential for both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs). Leveraging JBM's extensive four-decade manufacturing expertise and Sodecia's advanced hot stamping technology, this plant aims to meet stringent environmental norms and support the development of next-generation EV platforms. Hot stamping technology, which involves heating and rapidly cooling sheet metal, is crucial for producing strong yet lightweight parts.
