India's Electric Two-Wheeler Sales Poised for Record-Breaking March Amid Market Resilience

TL;DR

Electric two-wheeler sales in India are projected to reach a record high in March 2026, driven by strong growth, strategic promotions, and resilient market demand, with TVS Motor leading the segment.

India's electric two-wheeler (E2W) segment is set to achieve a record-breaking sales volume in March 2026, defying broader market concerns despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. As of March 27, E2W sales have already reached 1.39 lakh units, surpassing the 1.31 lakh units recorded in March 2025. The industry anticipates monthly sales to exceed the previous peak of 1.45 lakh units from October 2025, driven by strong double-digit year-on-year growth in FY26 and strategic year-end pushes by manufacturers.

Leading E2W manufacturers are intensifying demand-generation efforts, with some introducing special-edition models and aggressive pricing strategies. For instance, Ola Electric has rolled out a starting price of ₹49,999 and benefits up to ₹50,000 across its portfolio, valid until March 31, 2026. TVS Motor Company continues to lead the E2W segment, having already crossed the one lakh unit mark for the March 2026 quarter and surpassing the 3 lakh milestone for FY26, reaching approximately 3.3 lakh units as of March 27. Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy also reported significant FY26 volumes, indicating robust growth across the sector.
