India's Electric Two-Wheeler Market Witnesses Record-Breaking Sales in July 2026

TL;DR

India's electric two-wheeler sales hit a record 2.04 lakh units in July 2026, marking 88.32% YoY growth and an 11.24% market share, with TVS and Bajaj Auto leading the surge.

India's electric two-wheeler market achieved a significant milestone in July 2026, with retail sales surpassing the 2 lakh unit mark for the first time. A total of 2,04,362 electric scooters and motorcycles were registered during the month, representing a remarkable 88.32% year-on-year growth compared to July 2025. This surge also pushed the electric vehicle segment's share of the overall two-wheeler market to a record 11.24%, up from 10.59% in June 2026.

The robust performance indicates a steady acceleration in EV adoption across the country, with electric two-wheelers increasingly becoming a mainstream choice for Indian consumers. TVS Motor Company maintained its leadership position, accounting for over 27% of all electric two-wheelers sold, while Bajaj Auto secured second place with strong demand for its Chetak range, recording a 121.89% year-on-year growth.

Despite the overall growth, some manufacturers experienced month-on-month fluctuations, with Ather Energy seeing a slight dip in sales. However, emerging players like Greaves Ampere and River recorded strong year-on-year growth, with River demonstrating the fastest expansion in the industry. The continued expansion of product portfolios and retail networks by manufacturers, coupled with approaching festive season demand, is expected to further boost EV penetration in the coming months.
