Indian Carmakers See Strong Sales Growth in March, Outperforming Market Trends

TL;DR

Citroen and Renault achieved significant sales growth in India during March 2026, with Citroen's sales doubling year-on-year.

March 2026 proved to be a robust month for the Indian automotive sector, with a total of 4,47,702 cars sold. While the market saw overall strength, certain automakers recorded exceptional year-on-year growth, significantly outperforming their previous year's figures.

French automaker Citroen demonstrated a staggering 100.2% year-on-year growth in March, dispatching 815 units compared to 407 units in March last year. This remarkable jump was largely propelled by the success of its C3 micro-SUV, which saw a 440% increase in sales year-on-year, selling 648 units in March 2026.

Another French manufacturer, Renault, also reported impressive figures, with a 77.3% year-on-year growth. The company dispatched 5,046 units in March 2026, up from 2,846 units in the same month last year. Renault's Triber MPV was a key contributor to this growth, with 2,011 units sold during the month. These strong performances highlight specific success stories within India's competitive car market.
