This decision, made at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday, aims to strengthen ground-level measures under the Delhi Government's Winter Action Plan 2026-27.
The initiative will extend mechanized sweeping to smaller roads with a right of way less than 10 meters, covering 854 roads across 250 wards. The Delhi Government will provide a grant to the Municipal Corporation for procuring these EV-based machines, with the project estimated to cost around ₹393.73 crore over 10 years. Additionally, the Cabinet approved a five-year collaboration with IIT-Delhi for continuous, real-time identification of PM2.5 and PM10 pollution sources, further enhancing the city's environmental efforts.
