According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), this trend marks a reversal from just over a year ago when petrol cars held an almost eleven percentage point lead. Within the alternative fuel segment, CNG cars accounted for the largest portion at 25.28 percent, followed by hybrids at 9.04 percent, and electric vehicles (EVs) at 7.63 percent. The share of electric passenger vehicles, specifically, grew from 5.8 percent in August 2025 to 7.63 percent in August 2026, demonstrating consistent growth in the EV sector.
