TVS Motor Surpasses Hero MotoCorp and Honda to Lead India's Two-Wheeler Sales in August

TL;DR

TVS Motor Company has emerged as India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer in August 2026, surpassing Hero MotoCorp and Honda with a 21% sales growth, driven by strong EV sales.

In a significant shift in the Indian two-wheeler market, TVS Motor Company has outperformed traditional leaders Hero MotoCorp and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) to become the country's largest two-wheeler manufacturer by total sales in August 2026. TVS reported a robust 21% growth in total two-wheeler sales, reaching 591,437 units compared to 490,788 units in August 2025.

This impressive performance was largely driven by an exponential 137% growth in its electric two-wheeler segment, with sales climbing to 59,453 units in August 2026 from 25,138 units in the same month last year. The strong showing in both domestic and export markets underscores TVS Motor's strategic focus and growing dominance, particularly in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle category.
