Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Electric SUV Nears Indian Market Launch

TL;DR

Toyota's Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV is set for an imminent launch in India this March, offering two battery options with up to 543 km range and premium features.

Toyota is gearing up to introduce its first mass-market electric SUV in India, the Urban Cruiser Ebella, with its price announcement expected soon in March 2026. This launch marks Toyota's significant foray into the electric vehicle segment in India, following a strategy of badge-engineering from Maruti Suzuki's e Vitara.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella is anticipated to offer two battery options: a 49 kWh pack paired with a 144 hp/189 Nm motor, and a larger 61 kWh unit producing 174 hp and the same 189 Nm of torque. The larger battery is expected to deliver a claimed range of up to 543 km, while the smaller one is rated at 440 km on a single charge (ARAI figures).

The electric SUV will feature dual 10.25-inch screens, a JBL sound system, a panoramic glass roof, and Level 2 ADAS in its higher variants. With an expected price range of ₹17 lakh to ₹25 lakh, the Urban Cruiser Ebella aims to compete with models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, and Vinfast VF6, offering reliability synonymous with the Toyota brand alongside electric efficiency.
