Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Electric SUV Nears Indian Market Launch

TL;DR

Toyota's Urban Cruiser Ebella, an electric SUV based on the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, is set for a March launch in India, offering two battery options and a range up to 543km.

Toyota is expected to announce the pricing for its first mass-market electric SUV, the Urban Cruiser Ebella, sometime in March. This new electric SUV is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, a result of the ongoing partnership between Suzuki and Toyota in India. While sharing its electrical components and other features with the e Vitara, the Ebella will sport a distinct front-end design.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be available with two battery pack options: a 49kWh unit producing 144hp and a larger 61kWh pack generating 174hp. Both battery configurations will be paired with a single electric motor driving the front wheels. The larger 61kWh battery pack is projected to offer an ARAI-claimed range of up to 543km on a single charge. The Ebella is anticipated to be priced at a premium of ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh over the e Vitara.
