TL;DR

Tesla is opening its sixth experience store in India, and third in South India, in Chennai this week to expand its market presence and sales in the region.

US-based electric car manufacturer Tesla is expanding its presence in India with the upcoming opening of its new experience store in Chennai this week. This marks Tesla's third outlet in the southern region, following Hyderabad and Bengaluru, and its sixth store across India. The Chennai centre is expected to significantly boost the company's sales in Tamil Nadu.

September has proven to be a robust month for Tesla in India, with approximately 150 units sold so far. The company's year-to-date sales in the country exceed 600 cars, with 38 units sold specifically in Tamil Nadu. The Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive are currently offered by Tesla in India, with prices starting at Rs 50.89 lakh and Rs 61.99 lakh respectively. This expansion comes as electric car sales in Tamil Nadu have surpassed 19,700 units in 2026.
