Suzuki Emerges as Top Japanese E-Scooter Brand in India

TL;DR

Suzuki is the leading Japanese electric scooter brand in India for the first four months of 2026, surpassing Honda and Yamaha in sales.

Suzuki Motorcycle India has outpaced its Japanese counterparts, Honda and Yamaha, to become the leading Japanese electric scooter brand in India during the first four months of 2026. Despite entering the Indian electric two-wheeler market later than domestic manufacturers, the three Japanese brands collectively sold 3,971 units between January and April. Suzuki accounted for a significant 57% of these combined wholesale volumes and 50% of retail sales.

Suzuki dispatched 2,261 units of its e-Access scooter from its Gurugram facility during this period, with retail deliveries totaling 1,161 units. In comparison, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India managed a combined 1,284 units of the Activa-e and QC1, with 1,039 retail sales. Yamaha, which launched the EC-06 in February, dispatched 426 units and recorded 140 retail deliveries, although its sales are currently limited to select cities and states.

This performance highlights Suzuki's early success in carving out a niche within India's competitive electric two-wheeler market, even as homegrown companies like TVS Motor Company and Bajaj Auto continue to dominate overall sales. As Yamaha expands the availability of its EC-06, its sales volumes are expected to increase, further intensifying the competition in the rapidly growing e-scooter segment.
