Servotech and Electra EV Secure Patent for Innovative Low-Voltage EV Fast-Charging Solution

TL;DR

Servotech and Electra EV have patented a device allowing low-voltage EVs in India to use high-voltage fast-charging infrastructure, expanding accessibility for commercial fleets.

Indian EV company Servotech Renewable Power, in collaboration with Pune-based Electra EV, has been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for a new electric vehicle charging device. This groundbreaking technology enables low-voltage EVs, typically operating below 200V DC, to utilize existing high-voltage Combined Charging System 2 (CCS2) infrastructure for fast DC charging.

Historically, low-voltage electric vehicles, including small commercial EVs and pickup vans adhering to the GB/T Bharat DC 001 standard, faced limitations in accessing India's widespread high-voltage fast-charging network. The newly patented device bridges this gap through integrated power management and voltage conversion, facilitating safe and efficient energy transfer. This innovation is crucial for expanding fast-charging accessibility for a significant segment of India's electric mobility ecosystem, particularly for commercial fleets.
