Nissan India Targets Four-Fold Sales Increase and Broadened Product Portfolio

TL;DR

Nissan India plans to quadruple domestic sales by March 2027 and increase exports by 40% by March 2028, expanding its product lineup to four models.

Nissan Motor India has announced ambitious plans to significantly boost its presence in the Indian market, aiming for a four-fold increase in domestic sales by March 2027 and a 40% jump in exports by March 2028. This strategic shift involves expanding its product lineup from a single model to a four-car portfolio within the same timeframe.

In FY 2024-25, Nissan achieved consolidated sales of 99,000 units, comprising 28,097 domestic sales and 71,230 exports, marking its strongest performance in seven years. The company is on track to match these results in FY 2025-26, with domestic sales reaching 17,662 units and exports at 69,769 units by January 2026.

Currently, Nissan exports its Magnite and Sunny models to over 65 countries, leveraging its Chennai plant for global supply. The expanded product offering will likely include new models like the recently launched Gravite seven-seat MPV and the upcoming Tekton C-SUV, which are crucial to achieving the targeted sales growth in the highly competitive Indian automotive market.
