JSW MG Motor India has confirmed the launch of a new electric SUV, the MG Hector Hawk, in India on August 26. This new model is globally known as the Wuling Starlight 560 and is also sold as the Eksion in some international markets. For the Indian market, MG will initially introduce only the electric vehicle (EV) version, with a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant expected to follow at a later date.
The Hector Hawk has been spotted numerous times undergoing testing in India, indicating its readiness for the local market. Globally, the SUV is offered as a 3-row, 7-seater configuration, which India is expected to receive. There is also speculation, based on trademark filings for 'Hector Hawk Plus', that a 5-seater version might also be introduced.
The global EV model of the Wuling Starlight 560 is equipped with a 69.2 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, powering a single electric motor on the front axle. This setup delivers 201 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque, offering a claimed maximum range of up to 530 km on a single charge. While MG is expected to introduce some design restyling for the Indian version, the global model features a boxy design, an imposing front fascia, robust cladding, and alloy wheels.
