India now has over 29,000 EV charging stations, including 8,805 fast chargers, with significant government investment through the PM E-DRIVE and FAME India schemes.

India's electric vehicle charging infrastructure has significantly expanded, with the country now boasting 29,151 charging stations nationwide. This includes 8,805 fast-charging stations and 20,346 slow-charging stations, according to information provided to Parliament by the Minister of State for Heavy Industries.

The government has allocated Rs 2,000 crore under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme specifically for deploying EV charging infrastructure across India. Additionally, the FAME India scheme has played a crucial role, supporting the sale of over 1.6 million EVs and sanctioning 6,862 e-buses.

Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have also contributed to this expansion, installing 8,932 EV Public Charging Stations (EVPCS). The government's continued focus includes promoting domestic battery and magnet manufacturing through substantial investment schemes to further bolster the EV ecosystem.
