Honda Issues Recall for Rebel 500 Motorcycles in India Over Handle-Lock Assembly Issue

TL;DR

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has issued a recall for 96 Rebel 500 motorcycles over a handle-lock assembly defect, with repairs starting November 1, 2026.

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has announced a recall for a select batch of Honda Rebel 500 motorcycles produced in India during 2025. The recall addresses a potential manufacturing defect where the handle-lock fixing nut on motorcycles manufactured between April and August 2025 may not have been tightened to the specified torque. This could lead to the loosening of screws and potentially affect steering stability over time.

A total of 96 Rebel 500 motorcycles sold in India during the identified production period are affected by this recall, which is part of a broader global campaign. While Honda has stated that no incidents related to this issue have been reported in India as of September 30, 2026, the company is undertaking the repair as a precautionary safety measure.

The recall campaign is scheduled to commence on November 1, 2026, with repairs to be carried out free of charge at authorized Honda BigWing dealerships. Affected customers will be contacted by Honda representatives via phone, SMS, or email to schedule appointments. Owners can also verify if their motorcycle is part of the recall by checking its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
