NavPrakriti Green Energies launches Eastern India's first lithium-ion battery recycling plant near Kolkata, enhancing critical mineral recovery and supporting the nation's circular economy amid rising EV adoption.
NavPrakriti Green Energies has inaugurated Eastern India's first advanced lithium-ion battery recycling plant near Kolkata. This facility marks a crucial step in bolstering India's circular economy and critical mineral recovery ecosystem, especially as the nation anticipates a substantial increase in end-of-life batteries from the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy systems.
With India projected to need annual recycling capacity for over 1.2 million EV batteries by 2030, this new plant addresses a significant regional gap. Akhilesh Bagaria, Founder of NavPrakriti, emphasized that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Modi's vision for a green and self-reliant India. The facility aims to serve West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, contributing to domestic recycling capacity and reducing reliance on imported critical materials.
