Ducati has officially launched the 2026 Monster in India today, August 10, marking a significant update to its premium streetfighter lineup. The revamped motorcycle introduces a new 890cc V2 engine, replacing the previous 937cc L-Twin unit, and features a refined design along with an advanced electronics package. This launch is a strategic move by the Italian manufacturer to strengthen its position in the competitive premium street naked motorcycle segment.
The new 890cc V2 engine delivers approximately 109.4 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 91 Nm of torque at 7,250 rpm. Despite a slight reduction in peak power compared to its predecessor, the motorcycle boasts improved performance characteristics. Design enhancements include a sharper, more athletic aesthetic, an oval LED headlamp, and a compact tail section, maintaining the Monster's signature muscular stance. Underneath, an aluminium monocoque frame contributes to a 4kg weight reduction, making the bike lighter at 175kg (wet weight without fuel).
Rider aids are comprehensive, featuring multiple riding modes, traction control, and a bi-directional quickshifter as standard. The suspension setup includes a 43mm Showa upside-down fork at the front and a preload-adjustable Showa monoshock at the rear. Pricing for the 2026 Ducati Monster is expected to start around Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom), with a slightly higher premium for the Monster Plus variant. It will compete against strong rivals like the Triumph Street Triple and Kawasaki Z900.
