The Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 has seen robust initial engagement since its implementation on July 1st, with electric two-wheelers leading the charge in incentive applications. Out of 5,678 applications received, 5,621 were for electric two-wheelers, demonstrating strong consumer interest in sustainable mobility. The government has already disbursed ₹4.8 crore in incentives to 1,664 beneficiaries, with ₹4.6 crore specifically going to electric two-wheeler buyers.
The policy offers substantial incentives, including up to ₹30,000 for electric two-wheelers in the first year, declining to ₹20,000 in the second year and ₹10,000 in the third. Electric car buyers benefit from a 100% waiver on road tax and registration for models up to ₹30 lakh. While purchase incentives have gained traction, the associated scrapping incentives for older BS-IV vehicles are yet to see widespread adoption, with only 41 new EV buyers claiming them across two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
