Bajaj Auto is boosting its EV presence by planning electric motorcycles by FY28 and increasing Chetak electric scooter production due to high demand.
Bajaj Auto is significantly expanding its electric vehicle (EV) offensive, with plans to introduce electric motorcycles by fiscal year 2028. The company also aims to ramp up production of its popular Chetak electric scooter to meet surging demand in India's competitive two-wheeler market.
During the first fiscal quarter, electric vehicles, including scooters and three-wheelers, accounted for approximately 30% of Bajaj Auto's domestic revenue. The automaker's Chief Financial Officer noted that demand for electric two-wheelers has outpaced supply, prompting the company to increase Chetak's production capacity from 50,000 to 60,000 units per month.
