ABB Pledges $75 Million for India Expansion, Targeting Green Growth and Sustainable Mobility

TL;DR

ABB is investing $75 million in India to expand manufacturing and R&D for sustainable mobility, renewable energy, and digitalization, creating over 300 jobs.

Global technology leader ABB is committing a substantial $75 million investment to expand its manufacturing and R&D operations across various locations in Karnataka, India, by 2026. This significant capital injection follows a previous $35 million investment in 2025 and is strategically aimed at high-growth sectors such as data centers, renewable energy, and critically, sustainable mobility.

The expansion will particularly boost the production of electrical protection systems and converter manufacturing at Nelamangala for the sustainable mobility sector, alongside increasing the output of low-voltage drives and specialized motors at Peenya. These initiatives are set to directly fuel India's electrification, digitalization, and sustainable development objectives, creating over 300 skilled jobs in engineering, operations, and research, while reinforcing ABB's "local-for-local" production strategy.
