TL;DR
Yamaha Motor India is restructuring its operations, merging three entities into one while keeping R&D separate, to boost efficiency and drive growth in premium motorcycles.
India Yamaha Motor (IYM) is implementing a significant strategic restructuring aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, governance, and long-term innovation. This move involves streamlining Yamaha Motor India's four existing entities into two more cohesive powerhouses. The objective is to pave the way for accelerated growth in the premium motorcycle and broader mobility solutions segments.
Under the new structure, India Yamaha Motor (IYM), Yamaha Motor India Sales (YMIS), and Yamaha Motor India (YMI) will be merged into a single entity, IYM. This consolidation will unify sales, marketing, finance, administration, and manufacturing functions under one roof. Yamaha Motor Research & Development India (YMRI) will maintain its independent status as a dedicated R&D innovation hub, working closely with the newly unified IYM on advanced engineering initiatives. This restructuring is expected to eliminate redundancies, simplify operations, and foster greater collaboration across the organization.
