It also features additional incentives specifically designed for women buyers to encourage their participation in the green mobility transition.
A key objective of this policy is to establish Uttarakhand as India's leading hill state for EVs by 2030, with a target that one out of every five new vehicles registered will be an EV. The policy also seeks to attract investments between ₹5,000-₹7,000 crore into the state's EV manufacturing and ancillary sectors, expecting to generate approximately 6,000-12,000 new employment opportunities. Incentives for charging stations are also part of the plan, covering fixed capital investment and charging plugs, with higher benefits for hilly regions.
Furthermore, the policy emphasizes expanding the network of charging stations, fostering research, design, innovation, education, and skill development within the EV sector. The Transport Department is actively promoting the deployment of e-buses, aligning with a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to conserve energy resources. The policy is expected to remain in force until March 31, 2029, with an evaluation scheduled two years after its implementation to assess its impact and identify necessary improvements.
