Toyota Kirloskar Motor officially unveiled its first all-electric SUV for the Indian market, the Urban Cruiser EV, on January 20, 2026. This significant launch marks Toyota's entry into the mid-size electric SUV segment in India.
The Urban Cruiser EV shares its architecture with the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara but features distinct design elements aligning with Toyota's global EV styling language, including a muscular front grille and sharper detailing. It is expected to offer two battery options, a 49 kWh and a 61 kWh unit, providing a projected driving range of up to 500-550 km on a single charge. Inside, the vehicle is anticipated to feature dual floating screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, along with advanced safety systems like ADAS.
Expected to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV aims to compete with rivals such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and Mahindra BE 6. Its local production at Suzuki Motor's Gujarat plant is set to ensure competitive pricing and market penetration.
