TL;DR

SIAT 2026 in Pune showcased India's commitment to future mobility, focusing on innovations in EV technology, charging infrastructure, and sustainable manufacturing.

India's automotive industry showcased its vision for future mobility at the Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT) 2026, inaugurated by Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in Pune. Hosted by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) alongside SAE International and SAEINDIA, the three-day event highlighted innovations in safety, sustainability, electrification, and connected mobility, underscoring India's growing role in shaping global automotive technology.

Minister Kumaraswamy emphasized electrification as central to India's mobility transition, bolstered by initiatives like FAME-II and PM E-DRIVE, which are accelerating EV adoption and charging infrastructure development nationwide. Significant investments through Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Auto and PLI-ACC schemes aim to boost domestic manufacturing, including plans for 50 GWh of battery capacity and indigenous production of critical EV components. The event also saw the inauguration of new facilities at ARAI's Mobility Research Centre, enhancing safety testing and certification capabilities, and reinforcing India's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
