Renault-Nissan Alliance Gears Up for Indian EV and Hybrid Market with New Bridger SUV

TL;DR

Renault and Nissan are preparing to launch new Bridger SUV in India, offering both hybrid and an all-electric variants based on a new modular platform.

Renault is set to introduce its first electric vehicle in India in the coming years, with Nissan expected to follow suit. The strategy centers around the recently unveiled Bridger concept, a sub-four-meter SUV. Initially, the production-spec Bridger will be offered with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine and strong hybrid powertrains. Subsequently, an all-electric version based on the same platform is slated for release, marking Renault's debut in the Indian electric vehicle segment.

The Bridger will be underpinned by Renault's new RGMP (Renault Global Modular Platform) Small, a multi-energy architecture capable of supporting various powertrain options, including internal combustion, hybrid, and electric variants. The all-electric Bridger is anticipated to feature battery packs of 35kWh and 55kWh, potentially offering an ARAI-certified range of approximately 500 km per charge. This strategic move aims to expand Renault's market share in India, positioning the country as a significant manufacturing and export hub for the company.
