Maruti Suzuki Reports Strong Q3 Sales, Eyes EV Market Entry with e-Vitara

TL;DR

Maruti Suzuki sees strong Q3 sales in its small car segment and plans its EV debut with the e-Vitara in India by Q4 FY26.

India's leading automaker, Maruti Suzuki, has reported robust Q3 sales, driven primarily by an increase in new customers and strong demand for its small car segment. The company recently finalized a deal with the Gujarat government to establish a new plant in Kharoj and is preparing to commence operations at a second facility in Kharkoda, Haryana, to meet escalating demand.

Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki is poised to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market with its first-ever EV, the e-Vitara. This new electric SUV is anticipated to launch in India in the final quarter of FY 2025-26.

The e-Vitara, which is already being produced at the company's Gujarat facility in Hansalpur and sold in European and Japanese markets, will compete with models like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE6, MG ZS EV, and Tata Curvv EV in India. It is expected to offer five-star safety ratings and come with 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery pack options, potentially yielding a maximum range of up to 543 km on a single charge.
