India's luxury electric vehicle (EV) market witnessed a record-breaking performance in Financial Year 2026 (April 2025-March 2026), with total sales increasing by 61% year-on-year to reach an all-time high of 5,404 units, up from 3,357 luxury EVs sold in FY2025. This surge is largely attributed to market leader BMW, which more than doubled its FY2025 volumes.
BMW significantly outsold Mercedes-Benz in the luxury EV segment, by more than three times. Tesla also emerged as a notable player, securing over 6% market share among luxury EV sellers. Conversely, Audi EVs recorded the steepest sales decline in FY2026. Despite the impressive growth in luxury EV sales, their share within India's broader EV market slightly decreased from 3.08% in FY2025 to 2.71% in FY2026.
